Country Style

My copy of country style arrived in the post today and I couldn't wait to post the images inside this months fabulous Spring Edition.
At Lily-g we are getting into Spring fever with new floral prints, gorgeous ginger jars in pinks, greens and of course our blue and white jars, we love filling them with fresh flowers to make a striking feature in your home.
As most of my customer know we are bird crazy, but they remind me of Summer day's and I just can't get enough of these beautiful little creatures, so I haven't disappointed you we have lots more in stock and wait for Xmas! (maybe I did go a little overboard)
My favourite saying for the week sourced from Country Style mag:
A flowerless room is a soulless room, to my way of thinking, but even one little solitary vase of a living flower may redeem it.......Vita Sackville-West.

Inspiration using black

Black is such a timeless colour, used cleverly it becomes the back drop for amazing colour or a more neutral palette. We are working on a renovation at the moment where in the family/media room we have darkened the wall with a very dark grey-black, the walls are paneled in the same colour. We have then trimmed all the woodwork, doors and shutters a vivid white for a striking contrast. The french doors will have white linen sheers with block out when used as a theatre room but also allowing lots of light to enter the room with just sheers. We could use lots of white furniture but the client and I prefer using oak to soften and add warmth to the room. We then add the contrast with the cushions and rugs and perhaps two striking chairs in fabulous fabric as the feature. The main lounges will be upholstered in charcoal with white piping, slip covered for easy care and buttoned at the back in white buttons for a fabulous effect. We are very excited about this room and we cant wait to show the finished product.
The room above is one of my favourites and the inspiration behind our new extension, we are loving lots of green and linen teamed up with this look.
Using mix match chairs is a fun inexpensive way to create a dining setting for your home. Personally I love keeping the side chairs the same and make the feature the wing back chairs, but either way it will look fabulous just depending on your taste and style. I'm working on an interior project at the moment on a stunning old colonial home. The house already has a fabulous India Hicks feel and the home is filled with worldly treasures they have collected. Both are Bird lovers so as you can imagine this job is perfect for me, my inspiration is endless!
This week I will post some shots of the home before renovations begin!

Setting the Table Lily-g style

We love nothing more than cupboards in the kitchen filled with white gorgeous crockery. This month our focus is setting the table. We have lots of pieces arriving in-store but we are most excited about this stunning handmade collection from America. Hand made each piece is a collectable item and very affordable which means we can use it rather than collecting dust. No two pieces will be the same so it really is a mix it up set anything goes, which is a fun way to set the table. Collecting white means that you can add colour with your tablecloth and napkins, image a green tablecloth lots of fresh hydrangeas in glass vases, silver vintage cutlery. May-be you would prefer a stunning linen table cloth with vases of stunning white roses the ideas are endless. The range is due late September and it will be available on-line soon. Did I mention all of the gorgeous custom made napkins arriving in store too?
