Happy New Year

After a long needed break I'm back and full of energy ready to tackle 2010 and what an exciting year ahead! I though I would start with some inspiration from Jill Brinson home in Atlanta, who says you cant have a country home in the city!

Bali Life

This months House and Garden features Stuart Membery's home in Bali. This would have to be my all time favourite style (very India Hicks!) lots of books, relaxed sofa's, interesting cane pieces, gorgeous just love it, girls go and buy this months H&G you will be drooling!

What's Inspiring me

When my business is sold maybe just maybe I will find the time to organize my shoes like this, dust free, covered by a gorgeous drape but still giving you a peek at the jimmy choo's! minus the chair! I'm just drooling over the mirror mantle piece!

Taking your curtains close to the ceiling is my favourite look, sisal rugs on dark floors lots of white! love the windows wow!

If you have a large room I'm loving placing furniture with more than one sitting area. Still inspiring me is simple elegant interiors that don't scream over done, but still remain interesting and clever! love, love, love this room! my inspiration for my next home .

Xmas Fever

Sorry for being so slack with my posts lately, the rush is on to finish our interior jobs, keeping the boxes unpacked and the shelves full of lots of xmas goodies! Over the next few weeks my blog will be filled with gift ideas for Xmas and table inspiration and all things Xmas and fun!

I'm putting up my tree this year and my theme is green,silvers and antique golds. The grown up xmas table will be in greens but the kids table is going to be hot pink and red combination which will be stunning but more on that soon!

New in store

As fast as new stock arrives it then leaves just as quick, so I had to post our gorgeous cane lounge which has been sold. The good news is we have more arriving soon with matching arm chairs. Available in dark chocolate cane, grey pepper or lime wash and with custom designed upholstery, suitable for indoors and outdoors, we can help select the right piece for your home.

Its already Thursday tomorrow and I cant believe how fast the week has flown. I don't think we have ever been as busy with our decorating and our store is full of excitement with all our new stock arriving every day.

Today we received Suzanne Kaslers new book, I'm a huge fan of her classic stylish decorating, in years to come her work will really stand the test of time, and in my opinion that makes a great decorator. The images above are sourced from both her book and website

Xmas at lily-g

This week is the beginning of our festive season at lily-g, the decorations have arrived and the store is filling fast with gorgeous decorations for your Christmas tree, if you haven't guessed already I went a little bird crazy! I just love this time of year don't you?

French Essence

Tomorrow we receive our order of Vicki Archers new book French Essence. Vicki is always the hot topic in our store and I'm just busting with excitement to receive my copy. We have pre-sold over 30 copies and for our store it's our best seller ever! what better way to support such an inspirational special person who we all so admire. Her blog is always so beautifully written, so heartfelt and I try to never miss my daily read, she deserves such great success.

Style Guide

If you love entertaining then you will love this website styleguide.com.au admittedly it is a wedding magazine website, but its full of table setting inspiration that you could use for lots of other occasions too. I'm planning to use the laduree inspired name tags and table setting for lunch with my girlfriends, now all I need is the macaroon's x

An update

Sorry for the lack of posts last week I went on a pre wedding shopping spree with my daughter Jess to Hong Kong. We had so much fun we laughed non stop, shopped four days straight, zero dollars in the bank, aching feet and way to many star bucks coffee's, I'm definitely over shopping (well for this week anyway!!!) so I'm back ready for action!

We are only one week away from opening our new section "Verandah" and I must say its looking amazing! We are setting up Christmas in store this week-end and this years our white xmas is very special. Our Verandah room celebrates xmas with antique golds, lots of green and antique silvers, beautiful coloured mercury decorations for the brighter tree, blacks and silvers and gorgeous duck egg blue's. Our coffee bar is only a few weeks away, log on to our website and join our mail out to keep you up to date with what happening at lily-g.

A New Range

Due to arrive in mid October is our stunning new range of tablecloths, napkins, cushions and accessories for summer living. Designed in Denmark this very affordable range is the perfect summer addition to your home, imagine using this range in your beach house, a sunday lunch with friends even a picnic in the park or a revamp of the sofa, actually the range is so beautiful it will be a Lily-g sell out for sure!

Restoration Hardware

Loving the stunning oak mirror, I used a very similar one in a recent interior job but it was in a garden courtyard, how fabulous using it in a dressing room. Recently I have specified in several jobs wall paneling it's great for hallways, bedrooms and entry's but the trick is adding artwork and wall lighting to really create a designer effect.

Sometimes adding several paintings or prints mix matched can be very tricky, the best way is to lay it down on the floor first till you have it the way you like it, then start in the middle and work outwards. Every decorator would have there own way of doing it but I find I never go wrong doing it that way. If you have the same size and frame the impact of rows (as above) looks stylish, but makes a fabulous statement. I'm not a huge fan of leather but I just adore old leather tan sofa's and trunks. We have a chair very similar but without the buttoning in our store at the moment and its so comfortable, the guys who visit our store always head straight for it!

Love the sheers on the window, the stone fireplace, the huge mirror in fact I love the entire room! Simple, understated elegance you just cant beat it!

I have just purchased a similar bathroom cabinet for my next home, but with a grey soapstone top, yep! no house but I have the vanity!

How stunning is this table, inside or out!

Restoration hardware is a fabulous store in America that every customer keeps telling me I would love and they are right. After browsing there website I continued to drool for hours, the furniture is very similar to what we have available and the map above we received one similar in store today only to be sold minutes later, but its the choices and the huge range thats impressive and it certainly has a style that myself and so many of my customer love, this is one company that does it so well and I cant wait to visit the store myself.
